Everyday Beauty

“Beauty surrounds us, but usually we need to be walking in a garden to know it.”- Rumi

My life if full of beauty, it is everywhere.  I am constantly discovering it in the ordinary, what some might even call mundane.  If you are having a hard time finding the beauty in your neighborhood, grab a child by the hand and go for a walk 1.5 in any direction – they will discover beauty in places you never thought to peek.

“Perfect happiness is a beautiful sunset, the giggle of a grandchild, the first snowfall. It’s the little things that make happy moments, not the grand events. Joy comes in sips, not gulps.” – Sharon Draper

Round the Corner

“Still round the corner there may wait, A new road or a secret gate.” – J. R. R. Tolkien

This is just an old adobe gate that intruigues me.  It is on the road to El Rito.  I don’t know who lives beyond this gate, but I know when I pass it I am almost there…to a dear friend, who has dinner waiting on the her rooftop patio.  “Dinner is waiting” is such a good feeling.  This scene is a great reminder.
