I love to paint cardinals. Something about the way this one came together just delights me. The colors are subdued and so beautiful. It has a special beauty, like a happily married couple.

My sweet husband is a runner, and he spends his runs scouting out fantastic painting spots for me. Today he made coffee in the dark, brought me to a spectacular beach, and even set up my easel.

Below is my painting photographed in the scene. Pictured is my trusty, little Alla Prima Pochade box, that can hold 4 wet panels. A 4 paining day remains a lofty goal, I have hit it twice so far on this trip.
Angry Waves
This was day one at the beach…30+ mph wind, and COLD. I was freezing in a jacket, and was dry on shore, those are my crazy children playing in the water. I was hoping to plein air paint a bit, perhaps the wind will die down and I will have a chance later in the week.
The children named these waves angry waves.
