“Pink is a beautiful color, because it is one of the colors that the sun makes at twilight and in the dawns.” –C. JoyBell C.
I have always loved when my art reminds someone of a story. Thanks to those who have opened their hearts and shared their breast cancer stories. I am honored to hear stories about mothers, sisters, friends, and God Children, favorite teachers, choir members, neighbors, Aunts, and Grandmothers.
Please enjoy a celebration of pink paintings this month, in honor of breast cancer awareness. I paint for my friends and family who have fought the good fight against cancer, for their families, and for all caregivers who help along with the journey toward a healthy self (body, soul, and spirit). In my strokes of pink, are prayers of strength and healing.

“Into each life some rain must fall.” – Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
A few houses back, I put a rain gauge on a piece of wood with this quote in my garden. I love the literal and the metaphorical meaning.
Yesterday my feet were wet all day long, it was a little reminder that most days I enjoy the luxury of dry socks, and that yesterday I got to start my day with a splash!

“If the sight of the blue skies fills you with joy, if a blade of grass springing up in the fields has power to move you, if the simple things of nature have a message that you understand, rejoice, for your soul is alive.”

Sometimes, a detour or wrong turn can turn into a gift of unexpected beauty. I have a terrible sense of direction, and I am easily distracted by beautiful things along the way, which often causes me to be on roads which were not on my planned route. I have learned to enjoy these moments because I might happen upon something delightful when I am off my beaten path. Perhaps it will be afternoon light on an old barn, a field of flowers, or a longhorn in a field. I hope that when life gives me detours I can apply this same lesson of patience and hope still enjoy the drive.

I have been playing with abstraction in my art. I find simplified color and detail to be so beautiful and pleasing to the eye. I love how a few swipes of color can suggest a chick.

Out of all the crazy thing I have seen in lost and found boxes, I have never seen TIME. Time is a hard thing to find. You have to MAKE time for things most important in your life. Today I am painting while my son attends a pole vaulting camp.
That spec in the top half of the frame is my fledgling learning to fly!
