I am taking a Kevin Mc Phearson workshop this week. It is delightful. Today we painted with limited color pallets en plein air. All three are oil on linen. 11×14″

  1. great experiments with color triads. How (if possible) do you compare mixing oils for that perfect color with layering pastels?

    1. I find that I apply oil paint quite thick, so I do lots of mixing of paint on the palette (not on the canvas), whereas with pastels I tend to layer and layer and the mixing is more optical.

Please let me know what you think
