8″x10″ pastel on sanded paper pet portrait details below.

I am lucky to be part of the Arts and Medicine Program at Baylor Hospital in Dallas,TX.

I painted this guy in the Sammons Cancer center. I set up my easel and painted. Patients, caregivers, and staff watched the cat come to life as they passed through the busy atrium.

This painting is about the yawn, everything else is just color play. Painting him was a joyful experience for me, and my hope in painting publicly, was to share that joy.

Many people had interest in my art, and many more had a cat story to share. Our conversations often lead to the reason they were standing in front of me. It is an honor to share their stories, struggles, and vulnerability. The cat stories were fun too;)

  1. Love this! Love your depth of color in the cats coat! Especially the right side of the body! He/she must have yawned several times to get the detail on the tongue! Makes you smile!
